GREAT NORTH AIR AMBULANCE

We have developed the character designs and will be producing a series of one minute animated episodes for a new online children's show for the Great North Air Ambulance.

Quay Animation Studios teamed up with director Ben Whitehouse of JOY@RSA and local animator Mark Nute to produce a one minute film for the book launch of My Goat Ate Its Own Legs by Alex Burrett. Check it out on Youtube!
     
Young Galaxy   ROBSON BROWN

We recently worked with Robson Brown on a fully animated Christmas commercial for the MetroCentre which will 'pop up' on your TV in November and December on ITV Tyne Tees.
     
No Limits   NO LIMITS

Quay Animation Studios produced the animated title sequence for the 8th season of No Limits in Melbourne, Australia which will be broadcasted later this year.
     
Twilight Avenger  
TWILIGHT AVENGER

We recently collaborated with Kelly Richardson on her new video installation entitled 'Twilight Avenger' which premiered this summer at Birch Libralato in Toronto, Canada. Quay Animation Studios assisted with the rotoscoping and particle post-production effects for this 6 and a half minute piece.
     
     
A Trace of Her  
A TRACE OF HER

Quay Animation Studios worked with new Director/Animator Karen Macey to produce her latest film which uses a combination of manipulated live action footage and cutout animation.

'A Trace of Her' was funded by Northern Film and Media as part of their Mini Stinger Scheme.

THE DRAGONS EGG

Quay Animation Studios worked alongside 164 children from the North East of England to produce this short film which combines stop motion animation with hand made artwork manipulated into 3D environments.
     
Love the World   LOVE THE WORLD

This music video for Karoshi Bros features an assortment of animation techniques including stop motion, 3D, cutout animation and the manipulation of photogaphed elements.

The video has received over 50,000 hits on YouTube and is currently being shown on MTV.
     
Theory of [R]evolution  
THEORY OF [R]EVOLUTION

TOR was the first time an animation had been funded in the history of Northern Film and Media's Maxi Stinger Scheme.

This ten minute epic is a retelling of an aboriginal story of creation focussing on the struggle between nature and industrialisation.
     
Tentaclaus  
TENTACLAUS

Funded by Northern Film and Media as part of their Micro Movies scheme, Tentaclaus is a sixty second short film containing a warning to all parents out there to always listen to their children.

Tentaclaus is as far as we know the first time that an octopus was used within a motion capture facility.
     
Thoughtful Learner   THOUGHTFUL LEARNER

The Learning Challenge commissioned Mark Jobe to design and illustrate two childrens stories within their latest learning resource interactive DVD. It has also recently been accepted for publication by Optimus Press to be marketed to schools in the form of teacher guides and pupil workbooks.
     
Red Room   RED ROOM MUSIC COMPOSITION

Red Room commissioned us to make this ident for their website using their existing branding as a starting point for the design of the piece.

27.11.2008 ANIMATED VIRAL FOR JOY@RSA

Quay Animation teamed up with local animator Mark Nute to produce a one minute viral directed by Ben Whitehouse of JOY@RSA (Ridley Scott Associates). The viral was used at the book launch of My Goat Ate Its Own Legs by Alex Burrett at Borders on Oxford St in London. Ewetube domination coming to a field near you soon!

We recently animated the MetroCentre Christmas commercial which is officially on air as of today. Keep your eyes peeled for the 30 second version throughout November, followed by four 10 second versions throughout December on ITV Tyne Tees!

Quay Animation Studios is now working with Robson Brown Limited, the largest advertising agency outside of London in the UK. We've been asked to produce all the animated content for a fully animated commercial which will 'pop up' on your TV towards the end of this year. Stay tuned!

23.09.2008 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL 2009

We're very excited to report that 'Twilight Avenger' will be featured in this years Sundance Film Festival alongside two other video artworks by Kelly Richardson. All three will exhibit as part of this years New Frontier on Main which showcases cinematic installations by a mixture of approximately 12 artists/scientists that challenge the convention of the medium. The exhibition will run for the entire festival from January 15-25, 2009.

10.09.2008 IN THE PRESS

Our recent collaboration with Kelly Richardson on her video entitled 'Twilight Avenger' has received rave reviews from her solo exhibition this summer at Birch Libralato in Toronto, Canada. Thus far it has been featured in The Globe and Mail, Now Magazine, Akimblog and a further review will appear in the November issue of Artforum. 'Twilight Avenger' will also feature as the cover image for the October/November issue of Adbusters.

"This painstaking frame-by-frame animation belies the almost convincing natural setting and leaves us to wonder, Is the green stag real or a CGI creature worthy of a summer blockbuster?" Now Magazine

05.09.2008 LOVE THE WORLD

One of our recent projects, the 'Love the World' music video for the Karoshi Bros is currently screening on the MTV playlist. It will also be showing on an outdoor screen for several weeks as part of the Middlesborough Live project and it was recently shortlisted for the Portobello Post Supershorts International Film Festival 2008.

01.08.2008 TOUR VISUALS FOR YOUNG GALAXY

Quay Animation Studios are collaborating with UK based Canadian Visual Artist Kelly Richardson to produce tour visuals to promote the forthcoming second album for Young Galaxy. Montreal based Young Galaxy are signed to the Arts and Crafts label which includes other artists such as Broken Social Scene, Feist, Pheonix, Stars, The Dears and The Stills.

12.06.2008 TWILIGHT AVENGER

This will be the second time the studio has collaborated with Kelly Richardson having assisted her on her latest piece of work entitled 'Twilight Avenger' which is exhibiting as part of her solo exhibition at Birch Libralato in Toronto, Canada between July and September this summer. Kelly Richardson, who's work featured in 'The Cinema Effect' at the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum in Washington DC (and subsequently acquired as part of their permanent collection) was recently shortlisted for the Sobey Art Award (Canada's version of the Turner Prize). Her upcoming exhibitions include the Busan Biennale 2008 in South Korea and Pace University Digital Gallery in New York this September.

03.06.2008 "FUEL THE CHOPPER"

Quay Animation Studios are also collaborating with a London and LA-based writing team to produce an internet based animated series for the Great North Air Ambulance. Kirsty Peart is an animation feature writer and independant producer at the Film Foundry based in London and is currently co-writing with LA-based Jessica Kedward on two animated feature films for LA-based Exodus Film Group.
