07.08.2011 KELTIE COCHRANE GATESHEAD COLLEGE
Freshly added to our site, Mark Jobe was recently commissioned to work with Keltie Cochrane on post-production animation on a TV and cinema advert for Gateshead College. Having been a big fan of Keltie Cochrane's work for some time it was a great opportunity to finally get a chance to work in-house with them and animate their latest campaign for ITV and cinema.

01.08.2011 FILM NATION SHORTS WORKSHOPS
We're currently delivering two filmmaking workshops using animation in collaboration with Jack Drums Arts for Film Nation Shorts, a competition for young people aged 14–25 to make short films, telling their own stories in their own way. The week of workshops will result in two animated short films scheduled for completion in about two weeks. time.

29.06.2011 TWILIGHT AVENGER ROAMS TO THE ALBRIGHT-KNOX
'Twilight Avenger', a video installation by artist Kelly Richardson which Quay Animation collaborated on continues to tour the globe, this time exhibiting in a fantastic media art exhibition at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York along with an all-star line-up including artists such as Bill Viola, Bruce Nauman, Jennifer Steincamp, Isaac Julien, Cory Arcangel, etc. The exhibition continues through October 9th, 2011.

Leviathan, our newest collaboration with video artist Kelly Richardson, premieres this March 24-May 22 at Artpace San Antonio. Two months was always going to be a very short amount of time to produce a new piece of work. So what would any sane person do with access to only two MacBook Pros you may ask? Obviously the answer is to make another triple-channel, epic 20 minute loop -- an hours worth of visual effects in full HD. More info...

25.03.2011 A MEETING AT LIGHTWAVE HEADQUARTERS
As it turns out, NewTek, the company who produces LightWave, is based in San Antonio! Short story: we found ourselves in a meeting with LightWave, they are impressed with the way Kelly Richardson is applying visual effects to video art and [UPDATE] have donated a copy of LightWave 10 to Kelly's practice and have made some very generous offers of support. 15.03.2011 FIRST LIGHT AWARDS
We're delighted to announce that our film, The Day the Lights Went Out has been nominated for a First Light Award. As one of four films selected for the 'Best Animation' category, the group was judged by Terry Gilliam, Nick Frost, Lizo Mzimba and David Arnold. We didn't win but received awesome praise from Terry Gilliam: "Big production values. Technically very interesting. Various animation techniques. Strong design. Nice choice of music. Solid story." 24.01.2011 DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS
After two months travelling throughout Canada to premiere our new video installation, we're off to Texas to assist Kelly Richardson during her artist residency at Artpace in San Antonio where she will be commissioned to produce a major new work for exhibition at the end of March. Two months to produce 60 minutes of visual effects. Game on!

Having work in the Sundance Film Festival in 2009 as part of 'New Frontiers' was amazing. Being invited back to represent 5 years of 'New Frontiers' at the opening event for Sundance Film Festival 2011, 'An Artist at the Table' is an incredible honour. Kelly Richardson's work which we collaborated on will once again be included this year. Amazing!

21.10.2010 R&D FOR ARTPACE, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
Quay Animation is in the middle of research and development for video effects for another new video project for artist Kelly Richardson who will undertake an artist residency this January-March, 2011 where she will produce the work for exhibition at Artpace in San Antonio, Texas. We can't reveal a great deal at this point but we can say that true to form, it is an epic challenge.

Twilight Avenger, a video art project we worked with Kelly Richardson on, continues to tour the globe. Art Star Video Art Biennial will feature this work from October 29 - November 20 at Galerie SAW Gallery (Ottawa, Canada), along with works from an impressive list of artists including Marcus Coates (London, UK), Pierre Yves Clouin (Paris), Rafael Lozano-Hemmer (Montreal/Madrid), Laurel Nakadate (New York) and Ryan Trecartin (Los Angeles).

Over the past year we've continued to work with artist Kelly Richardson on her latest high definition, three-channel video installation entitled The Erudition which is set to premiere in three Canadian provinces simulataneously this December/January at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (Halifax, Nova Scotia), Birch Libralato (Toronto, Canada) and the Southern Alberta Art Gallery (Lethbridge, Alberta). This is going to be epic!

We are currently working in collaboration with Mere Mortals for Drummond Central to produce an animated commercial to advertise the online betting company, Bet 365. This will be shown at sporting events across Canada in the near future.
